Candidate Profile

FOS positions brands like AB InBev, DraftKings, Hyperice, RBC, Samsung, and Bose to our audience of influential business leaders across sports, entertainment, fitness, finance, real estate, media, tech, and other sports-adjacent industries. 

We are looking for a seasoned media sales leader to help position the FOS brand to advertisers and agencies with excitement and drive growth at a pivotal time in the company’s lifecycle. FOS is a fast-paced, high-growth organization and the ideal candidate should have experience developing a roster of both B2B and B2C brand partners.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Represent the Front Office Sports and Sports Section brands in the advertising marketplace
  • Responsible for driving revenue by selling integrated packages to advertisers
  • Prospect, cultivate, develop and maintain relationships with high-level advertising decision-makers at brands and agencies
  • Optimize the FOS sales and client success strategy from post-sales kick off through execution and campaign recaps
  • Develop an organized process for inventory management and forecasting
  • Maintain accurate and timely business estimates, forecasts, and administrative paperwork for leadership
  • Build custom partnership proposals and presentations for potential brand clients
  • Oversee the process for and coach the wider FOS partnerships team as they build custom partnership proposals

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years of digital media sales experience and a proven track record of meeting or over exceeding sales goals
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about digital media, brand marketing, and strategic partnerships
  • Strong personal relationships with key brand and agency stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of media sales packaging and selling digital sponsorships
  • Previous success driving RFPs and winning new business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience selling native newsletter advertising products is a plus

About the Team

FOS is a mass-market daily sports newsletter network of six newsletter brands. We have an office in New York but our employee body is fully remote, spanning five time zones. We are organized into five departments: Editorial, Sales, Partnership Marketing, Growth/Product, and Operations. To learn more about who we are, visit the Teams page of this website.

Candidate Profile

You will take a leading role around user acquisition efforts across the FOS newsletter network and the company’s ancillary products, overseeing a significant monthly growth budget. You will lead the Growth team and work closely with FOS leadership to achieve audience growth targets, iterate on past campaigns, establish A/B tests to drive newsletter audience engagement through a full-funnel marketing approach.

The ideal candidate is laser-focused on optimizing growth across social platforms and other channels and analytically minded with a deep knowledge around core acquisition metrics such as CAC and LTV, along with a solid understanding of churn rate and other retention metrics.

You can demonstrate a track record of driving user acquisition to free and paid media products, with experience across paid and organic channels. The ideal candidate should either have experience working on behalf of a newsletter publisher, or a deep, tactical knowledge of how newsletter publishers scale their audience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize plans to allocate newsletter user acquisition budget across multiple digital channels
  • Utilize dashboards — and help create new dashboards — to provide weekly and monthly reporting on user acquisition efforts
  • Engage the FOS audience via contest-driven referral campaigns to drive new user acquisition 
  • Hire, onboard, and manage a Growth Coordinator by the end of Q2 2022
  • Ideate and execute creative/unconventional growth experiments with the goal of identifying new acquisition channels
  • Implement paid media elements of branded content partnerships for FOS advertising partners

Minimum Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience running paid growth for digital media, technology, or consumer businesses with six-figure monthly budgets.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Facebook Ads Manager, Twitter Ads, Google Ads, and other digital advertising platforms
  • Expert-level knowledge of conversion tracking metrics and platforms
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, particularly around the media and sport industries
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help continue to build something new and fresh
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work and lead across departments when required
  • Experience with creative campaign planning and an ability to brainstorm unique growth opportunities outside of standard paid ad execution
  • Experience managing a team of marketing professionals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scaled newsletter/email products
  • Experience or familiarity with Campaign Monitor, WordPress and Zapier
  • Skills in statistical modeling and forecasting, including churn analysis and LTV calculations
  • Familiarity and passion for sports and business

Candidate Profile

FOS is looking for an experienced newsroom manager and editor who can help elevate the ambition and execution of FOS’s brands, including Front Office Sports, Front Office Sports Insights, and Sports Section.

This is a leadership role and requires strong communication and people management skills to train, develop, and lead a team of editorial professionals. Our hire will have good sports, business, and finance-related news judgment, editorial research skills, cross-platform content creation experience, and have an overall understanding of the sports business landscape.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Elevate the ambition and execution of our journalism to drive publication growth and act as a quality control stalwart for every piece of editorial content created
  • Help refine the Front Office Sports editorial voice and direction and oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy of the FOS editorial staff
  • Manage a team of editors, reporters, and writers to help execute on an overall content strategy and direct a newsletter-first publication.
  • Train, coach and mentor staff of varying experience levels, including emerging leaders and managers within the publication teams
  • Take a data-focused approach that uses relevant data to inform smart content creation choices to engage and grow readership 
  • Drive content planning and editorial calendaring and deadlines for existing products, as well as ideation of new tentpole content series and franchises
  • Ideate, research, and create content around key sports business trends and provide insight around how these trends are affecting the day to day of various industries such as advertising, media, tech, retail, real estate, finance, etc. 
  • Engage on social media to promote your work, the work of colleagues, and the broader Front Office Sports brand.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 5 to 7 years of writing experience in business media or journalism OR 3+ years experience as a financial analyst with strong writing skills
  • Strong business and finance acumen as well as an understanding of niche business audiences
  • Excellent editing, writing, and communications skills and proven ability to lead and coach teams of editors, reporters, and emerging leaders
  • Knowledge of digital news and business and/or trade journals and knowledge of social media platforms and engagement strategies
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate
